Middle and High School Program
Parent/Student/Tutor Responsibilities
We are a Christian homeschool tutorial. We believe education is a parent’s God given responsibility and want to encourage and help parents with this task. We want to strengthen homeschool families and share our gifts with each other. We also look to provide a place for tutors to encourage students and provide needed quality academics.
Classes are held once a week for middle school and high school students, meeting on Thursdays at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 1205 N Main St, Hampstead, MD 21074. Classes run from September to May for a total of 32 weeks. Participants pick and choose courses, taking as many as they like. Each course has its own grading policy that will be addressed by the teacher. There is a $100 non-refundable registration fee due with registration forms. Cash Only.
Registration is online. Email surefoundationtutorial@gmail.com to receive the registration form.

Parents
Must sign the SFHT statement of faith. Please arrive on time. Please do not bring sick kids. Parents are responsible for purchasing books and materials for classes. Please inform teachers and leaders as soon as you can if you or your student will be absent and get any makeup assignments from the teachers. Parents are responsible for homeschooling their child, assisting with homework assignments, ensuring completion of assignments, requirements of their oversight group and for tracking and reporting grades, if necessary. Be willing to take support positions as needed. Please come to us with any problems.
Students
Be respectful, pay attention, and submit to the authority of the teachers and leaders. Show respect to all students in the co-op and to the facility. Come prepared to learn, have all assignments completed and be ready to participate in class with a positive attitude. Cheating of any type will not be tolerated and could lead to expulsion. Dress modestly at all times. Tutors and leaders reserve the right to ask a student to remove any items that they deem inappropriate while at co-op.
Tutors
Must sign the SFHT statement of faith and agree not to teach anything that would conflict with it. Tutors are responsible for curriculum, collecting class fees, keeping classrooms clean, class grading policy, to report grades in a timely manner, and communicate with the parents and students. Each tutor must have a plan in place for open and effective communication. In the event of a closure, or a tutor absence, the tutor will communicate any assignments that need to be completed at home. In the event of absences, notify the SFHT Board, students, and parents.
Support Positions
These are the important tasks that need to be done for our co-op to run smoothly (lunch supervision, study hall supervision, hall monitor, classroom assistance, clean up, etc.). Each family must commit to a position for three quarters per school year. The amount of help needed depends on how many students we have, please be willing to help if more is needed. A list of needed assistance will be published via Sign Up Genius and parents may sign up for support positions on a first-come first-serve basis. If parents don’t sign up, they will be assigned a position.
Discipline Policy
Students are expected to behave in a respectful manner to the teachers, students, facility and parents. When a student’s behavior is not respectful in any way, we leave the initial response to the teacher or volunteer. A teacher should verbally warn the student that their behavior is inappropriate and to stop immediately. If the teacher feels the incident requires more than a verbal warning, or if they have made multiple warnings to this student, then a talk with the parent is suggested as soon as possible. When we speak with the parent, an incident report will be filled out and a board member will be present. The incident report is to document communication with the parents and is used for internal purposes only.
Serious and repeated discipline matters will be addressed on a case by case basis.
Inclement weather: If the weather causes a delay or closure, families will be notified via email and the Band App.
“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
