Elementary School Program

Parent/Student/Tutor Responsibilities

We are a Christian homeschool tutorial. We believe education is a parent’s God given responsibility and want to encourage and help parents with this task. We want to strengthen homeschool families and share our gifts with each other. We also look to provide a place for tutors to encourage students and provide needed quality academics.

“As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” 1 Peter 4:10

Classes are held once a week, meeting on Thursdays at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 1205 N Main St, Hampstead, MD 21074. Classes run from September to May for a total of 32 weeks. Participants pick and choose courses, taking as many as they like. Each course has its own grading policy that will be addressed by the teacher. There is a $100 non-refundable registration fee due with registration forms. Cash Only.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.”   Proverbs 1:7

Parents: Must sign the SFHT statement of faith. Please arrive on time. Please do not bring sick kids. Parents are responsible for purchasing books and materials for classes. Please inform teachers and leaders as soon as you can if you or your student will be absent and get any makeup assignments from the teachers. Parents are responsible for homeschooling their child, assisting with homework assignments, ensuring completion of assignments, requirements of their oversight group and for tracking and reporting grades, if necessary. Be willing to take support positions as needed. Please come to us with any problems.

Students: Be respectful, pay attention, and submit to the authority of the teachers and leaders. Show respect to all students in the co-op and to the facility.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Support Positions: In order for our co-op to run as successfully as possible, participation is required from every family. For elementary school students at least one parent/guardian from each family must stay on site. Parents are expected to volunteer as a teacher and/or helper with our co-op classes. This will include helping in the nursery, at lunch or with clean-up. A signup genius will be sent out in August to sign up for your position for each quarter.

Discipline Policy
Every student is expected to behave in a proper, kind and respectful fashion at all times while attending SFHT. If a student is disrupting or misbehaving in class, the teacher will correct the student directly. If behavior continues or a teacher feels the incident needs to be recorded, an incident report will be completed. The teacher will  remind the student of SFHT policies. Parents will be notified. If the behavior continues or the issues are very serious, the result will be dismissal from SFHT.

Behavior issues outside of class but while at co-op must be brought to a tutor or leader’s attention immediately. The same procedure as above will occur.  Students may not leave the building unless supervised. If students want to go outside they must ask an adult to accompany them and inform the hall monitor or Lunch monitor. Please do not run in the building.

Inclement weather: If the weather causes a delay or closure, families will be notified.
